For my final piece of art, I drew and colored a mountain scene. The measurements on my artwork are 12x12 and the medium I used was colored pencils. I used colored pencils because they are my favorite medium to use and I believe they blend the best and this piece of art needed to be able to blend easily. While looking through the museum's collection of artwork I chose to be inspired by the piece called "The Eruption of Mt. Vesuvius" by Pierre-Jacques Volaire. I chose this piece because I really enjoyed the look of it and thought I could produce something like it but in a different way. I noted that the piece consisted of a volcano, french, colorful, people, mountain, bridge and clouds. I chose to be inspired by this piece with the mountains, clouds and colorful. I think the final piece turned out just how I wanted it especially with the colorful aspect. I have never been so creative and free with color in an art piece before because I have always been a little scared that it was going to backfire and not turn out how I wanted it. Thankfully, it turned out how I wanted it and I am really happy with the ending product. Below are pictures of how I was inspired, me finishing up the project and the final product.

For my destruction project, I decided to destruct my first art project of the year, my fruit painting. I painted this at the beginning of the year but today it was destroyed. I put my project in the blender because it made a fruit smoothie. I thought the idea was creative because it was a fruit painting and I put it into a blender and it made a fruit smoothie. The pictures show my process of blending my fruit painting. I really enjoyed painting the fruit but it was kind of sad destroying it but I loved the idea.
For my collaboration project, I was in a group with Ashlyn, Daisy and Isabella. Our idea was that by taking multiple pictures, it would eventually look like one group member was walking on another group members hand but it is really just an illusion. We took a total of 8 pictures where Daisy (the walker) looked like she was walking on my hand (the hand). My role in this group consisted of holding my hand up while the picture was being taken and Daisy walked on it. I think our final project turned out really good and I couldn't be happier with it and I really enjoyed this project. The idea of this project is photography where we will take pictures to make an illusion. I am collaborating with Ashlyn, Daisy and Isabella. My role in this group is in most of the pictures I will have my hand out where the other people in my group will look like they are standing on my hand. The final piece will look like the people in my group are standing on my hand and we hope to make an animation out of it. The final piece will be made out of many different pictures.
As I was drawing my Mickey project, I overcame the problem of only being able to use one color. I was only able to use the color purple in colored pencils. This type of problem falls under the category of a material problem because I could only use one type of material. I would shade darker in some places and lighter in some to make Mickey have value. During this project, I learned how to better shade because I have never been that great at shading. I chose to draw Mickey because I love Disney World and everything about it. Mickey is one of my favorite parts of Disney and he makes me very happy. Overall, I really enjoyed doing this project and am happy with how it turned out.
The word I illustrated was the word "wish." I chose this word because the first thing I thought of when I heard the word wish was a baby pig. Ever since I was little, I have always thought baby pigs are cute and always wanted one. The word wish accurately describes my long time wish for a baby pig and that's why I drew a cute baby pig. Last week we worked on several problem solving projects. One of them was the task party where we would make a task, put it in the bucket and pick out a new task. Then we will have to do whatever the task may be. One of the tasks Daisy picked was to "go to wakezone" but Mr. Sands wouldn't let us. Another task one of us got was to make a marker tower so we did make one. In this picture, it only shows Ashlyn and Daisy because I didn't make the picture. This was my favorite assignment because it wasn't hard but it was also fun at the same time. We had to solve the problem of figuring out how to make the markers stay together and we figured it out easily. This week I started working on a project with limitation. I decided to draw Mickey Mouse and color it in only one color and the color I chose was purple. I chose Mickey Mouse because I'm a huge fan of Disney and I love everything about it. I chose to pick this limitation because I like the idea of monochromatic pictures and I love the look of them. If my final piece turns out how I plan, I want it too look like different colors of purple all over Mickey Mouse depending on where I choose where the light is coming from. If it turns out how I planned, it should look pretty good.
My final project was a bunny made out of pom pom balls. This works for the project because it was a colorful bunny made out of pom pom balls which is not usually what a bunny is made out of. Obviously, bunnies also aren't colorful so that was something different about the bunny too. The merit of my piece was making a bunny out of something it was not supposed to be made out of, pom pom balls.
For my artists observe project, I drew and watercolored different fruits. I chose to do this because I love fruit and I think it's really pretty. I think my project turned out decent, my main problem with it is I'm not very good with watercolor and it looked more like acrylic. But I love how most of my fruits turned out. I wasn't sure about how to make the pineapple look like it had texture and in the way that I chose, I think it turned out good. I did pick a new material also because I rarely ever use watercolor and that's what I used this project and I really enjoyed it.
For our "Color Me Katie" project, we decided to make a cutout of Kim Kardashian and put it in the window of school to completely confuse everyone. The picture of the twitter screenshot shows that people did actually see it and were confused by it but it made a statement in the school. We decided to make Kim Kardashian because we all thought it would be funny to just have Kim in the window of the school😂 |
